Project Pop – My favourite Indonesian Band

Finally! Posting lagi setelah bertahun2 gak buka blog ini. Dah jamuran kayaknya. It’s hard to admit this, but it’s even harder not to admit this.

The best group band in Indonesia

6001524

Contohnya : “Dangdut is the music of my country” yang menggabungkan unsur dangdut dan metal.

.

Bertepatan dengan ulang tahun Project Pop yang ke-21

Thank you for bringing new colour to Indonesian music! 21 years is not a short time to stay together in a group band, but you have proved that you can do it so far. I hope you will keep strong and even stronger as a band and a family for the next 5, 10, 20 years. People need more music from you!

Family Trip to Bali

Hi again, wordpress! I cant believe it’s been 1 year long that I haven’t updated my blog. Apparently I lost my mood to write this year. No reason. Just having no mood.

Well, now even I have no idea what to write. Not really… I have many, but I cant decide which one. Because I can say there are not much changes since last year. Hmm Hmmm…

OK, I know now.. Im gonna write about my trip to Bali!

Taratat-ta-taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

I have been in Europe since September 2010 (wow.. 4 years already!), and each year I go to Indonesia only once to visit my family. And two times my parents came to Germany instead in September 2012 and September 2013, so in average I see them every 6 months. But not this year. Because I have twice flied to Indonesia in 2014. The first one is in April 2014 for 3 weeks, and the second one is in September 2014 for 1 week.

During the first visit, I had a family trip to Bali, Lombok and Sumbawa Islands. Finally.. Finally I went to Bali!! Not that it was my big dream or something, but more to curiousity.. And …. Identity as Indonesian citizen. Because first, since I was a kid I heard stories of my cousins or my friends who had already been there, and I was just like… Wooaaa.. Bali… It must be a beautiful Island.. I didn’t know exactly what to see, but I was really curious to go there. And second, most of my friends from other countries ask me when they know that I come from Indonesia, Have you been to Bali? And when I say no, they see me like I was a doctor who had never been to a hospital -___-. Therefore, I have to go to Bali to prove that I am really an Indonesian!

The trip was planned and sponsored by my sister (big thanks to her   ^o^v), who has more passion on travel, and been in Bali so often that she might know all the places. Here go some pictures…

Pantai Kuta

At three hundred year ago, in this place had been built a Konco (Buddhist Temple) located beside of Tukad Mati ( Dead River ) where it river can be navigable at that time. The boat steps into the hinterland of Kuta, so that Kuta is a port trade. Mads Longe is a merchant from Denmark in 19 century had built its trade station in the river periphery. During living in Bali, he often becomes the medium between king of Bali and Dutch. Mads Longe has mysteriously died and his grave is located inside of Konco ( Buddhist Temple ) right in the river periphery. Kuta is quiet fisherman countryside in the past, but now it has been turned into the hilarious town and it is completed by post office, police office, market, pharmacy, photo center, and shop. There are a lot of hotels which are designed luxury and comfortable set in a long side of white sandy beach of Kuta .

The very famous beach in Bali! Who doesn’t know Kuta Beach? It is one of the central tourist attraction which is enclosed by cafes, bars, and traditional markets in Legian street. I can say that it really adapts to the expectation of the tourists, especially the foreign tourists.

.

Pura Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot Temple is the most renowned temple in Bali and seems to have become an icon of the island. The uniqueness of this temple is its location in the middle of the sea, so the sea was high tide when you can not close, but when the low tide you can cross and saw one of the uniqueness of this temple is guarded by two black and white snake who every day look accompanied by the stakeholders.

It is one other beautiful beach where you can see temples surrounded by sea water. Epic! Really great to witness how the culture merges with nature.

Gunung Agung and Gunung Batur

The Balinese believe that Mount Agung is a replica of Mount Meru, the central axis of the universe. One legend holds that the mountain is a fragment of Meru brought to Bali by the first Hindus. The most important temple on Bali, Pura Besakih, is located high on the slopes of Gunung Agung.

The still-active Gunung Batur volcano, at an altitude of 1,717 meters (5,635 ft), is revered by the Balinese as the second-holiest mountain on the island (after Gunung Agung) and symbolises the female element next to Agung’s male.

After I went to Gunung Batur and Gunung Agung, I can say that Bali is not only about the beach, but the mount view is also spectacular! The panoramic view where you can see the high mountain and a big lake at its slope. Fantastic!

.

Danau Beratan Bedugul

Danau Beratan Bedugul is a shallow lake with the high caldera about 1231m above sea level and it is located at Bedugul. This lake have wide 3,8 km2 and also its deepness is up to 22 meters. Tourist can access the Beratan Lake through the dock which have been provided or desist around Ulun Danau Beratan Temple. In this place, the visitor can do various activities like doing recreation to look around in dock or do the other outdoor activities. The various water recreation activities can also be conducted here, for example riding the boat motorize to circle the lake, parasailing, canoeing with the traditional boat, banana boating, water skiing, and others. Fishing activities are also available in this places for who one love fishing in the lake.

It's uncanny....

It’s uncanny….

Another combination of culture and nature, but now it is between lake and temple. There are also a big park with other attractions, such as statues and gardens.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park

Bali Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is an area with 240 hectares of land. There are Supporting facilities that you can enjoy like Lotus Pond, Festival Park, Amphitheater, Street Theater, Exhibition Hall, and Jendela Bali The Panoramic Resto and souvenir shop as well. There are many cultural performances every day at GWK. Barong Dance Performance is the most popular show in there and also performances of traditional Balinese music.

Various uniqueness and beauty of Bali are well in view of the history, traditions, cultural customs, arts and panorama attraction. Of many attractions in Bali one of them is Garuda Wisnu Kencana that abbreviated. Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Bali cultural park is the window of island arts and culture against the backdrop of nature and an amazing panorama, making one of the main objectives for a variety of performing arts, exhibitions, conferences or religious visits.

This is the place where you can see all the traditional shows, such as Tari Barong and Tari Kecak. We came there to see Tari Kecak and it was awesome! Very entertaining and exotic! There is also a very famous statue of Garuda Wisnu Kencana. Believe me, it is big! And it is only the upper body..

.

In Bali, we also enjoyed other activities, such as..

Shopping Fabrics

I dont remember exactly where the place was. Perhaps it is in Jalan Sulawesi? (Based on google XD, I might need to ask my sister but I’m too lazy ^.^) But I do remember the fabrics was very nice, very feminine, and very…..Bali. I dont know, I cant describe. Hmm.. may be I can put this way… Once you see the fabric (especially the white one), you will dream about your traditional wedding dress.. (ahhaaaaayyyyy… I think it’s only me… and my sister.. xixixixixix)

.

Eating Durian

This controversial fruit.. There two kinds of people, first is who really like Durian, second is who extremely dislike one. And I fall for the first category :D. It’s really cheap in Bali. I dont really remember how much, because it was my mom who bought it (or more likely because it was my mom who paid it.. xixixixi). And it was tasty… Sllluuurrrrrppp…

IMG_2433

.

Enjoying the Highway on the Beach

Yeah, this is also controversial due to environment issues. It connects Denpasar, Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa which really improves the efficiency in terms of transportation. In the contrary, experts say this highway destroys the ecosystem and many other bad effects. I dont stand on any side as I dont have enough information about this at the moment, I just want to enjoy the trafficless highway on the beach with sunset view.

This trip actually has longer story, but im too lazy to write it all now :P. For now… That’s all folks!!!
